Why this happens
Niacin and statins both have the potential to affect muscle tissue; when used together, this effect can be additive, leading to muscle pain or weakness. Furthermore, certain minerals can bind to rosuvastatin in the digestive tract, reducing its effectiveness.
What you should do
Back to contentsIt is generally fine to take these together, but you should be aware of the timing. If your multivitamin contains minerals (like magnesium), take it at least 2 hours apart from your rosuvastatin to ensure the medicine is absorbed properly. If you experience any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, contact your doctor.

Taking lisinopril and potassium supplements together can cause the levels of potassium in your blood to become dangerously high (a condition called hyperkalaemia). While your body needs potassium for your heart and muscles to work, too much of it can lead to serious heart rhythm problems or even cause the heart to stop. Symptoms of high potassium can include muscle weakness, tingling sensations, or palpitations, but often there are no symptoms until the level is very high.
