Drug interaction guide

Why this happens

Both medicines have a 'depressing' effect on the central nervous system and both can lower blood pressure. When used together, these effects are added together (additive effect), making the side effects much stronger than if you took either medicine alone.

Use caution when taking these medicines together. It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol, as it will make the sleepiness and dizziness much worse. When getting out of bed or standing up, do so slowly to give your body time to adjust and prevent fainting. Do not drive or operate machinery until you are certain you are not too drowsy to do so safely. If you feel very dizzy, confused, or unusually weak, contact your doctor.
