Taking Abilify (aripiprazole) and dapoxetine together can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called serotonin syndrome. It may also increase the risk of side effects like dizziness, sleepiness, and blurred vision. Additionally, dapoxetine can increase the levels of Abilify in your blood, making side effects more likely.

Why this happens
Both drugs affect serotonin levels in the brain, which can lead to an over-accumulation (serotonin syndrome). Furthermore, dapoxetine can interfere with the liver enzymes (specifically CYP2D6) that break down Abilify, leading to higher levels of the medication in your system.
What you should do

If your doctor confirms it is appropriate for you, watch closely for signs of serotonin syndrome, such as high fever, agitation, muscle stiffness, or confusion.
