Can I take Accrete d3 and Bisoprolol together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking Accrete D3 (calcium and vitamin D3) alongside bisoprolol may reduce the effectiveness of the bisoprolol. This could lead to a slight increase in your blood pressure or heart rate. Additionally, there is a small risk that calcium levels in the blood could become too high if these medicines are used together over a long period.

Why this happens

Calcium supplements can sometimes interfere with how 'beta-blocker' medicines like bisoprolol work in the body, potentially making them less effective at lowering blood pressure. Furthermore, certain blood pressure medications can affect how the kidneys handle calcium, which might lead to a build-up of calcium in the bloodstream.

You can usually take these medicines together, but you should inform your doctor or pharmacist. It is a good idea to have your blood pressure and heart rate monitored regularly. Your doctor may also want to perform occasional blood tests to check your calcium levels. If you notice your heart racing or your blood pressure readings increasing, contact your GP.
