Can I take Allergy and Torasemide together?

If you have a known allergy to 'sulphonamides' (often called sulfa drugs), you may experience an allergic reaction to torasemide. Symptoms can range from a mild skin rash to a severe, life-threatening reaction.

Why this happens

Torasemide belongs to a chemical group called sulphonamides. Because its structure is similar to sulfa antibiotics, the body's immune system may mistake it for the allergen, causing a 'cross-reactivity' reaction.

Before taking torasemide, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any medication, especially sulfa antibiotics (like co-trimoxazole) or other water tablets. If you develop a rash, hives, swelling of the face, or difficulty breathing while taking this medicine, seek emergency medical help immediately.
