Can I take Amlodipine besilate and Binosto together?

Drug interaction guide

There is no direct interaction between amlodipine and Binosto (alendronic acid). However, Binosto must be taken in a very specific way to ensure it is absorbed properly and does not irritate your food pipe (oesophagus). Taking other medicines, including amlodipine, at the same time as Binosto can stop the Binosto from working.

Why this happens

Amlodipine is a blood pressure medication, and Binosto is a bisphosphonate for bone strength. They do not interfere with each other's chemistry in the body. However, Binosto is very sensitive to anything else in the stomach; other medicines, food, or drinks can prevent it from being absorbed into your bloodstream.

You can safely take both medications, but you must space them out. Take your Binosto first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water. Wait at least 30 minutes before taking your amlodipine, eating any food, or drinking other liquids. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking Binosto to prevent irritation to your throat.
