Taking metformin and rosuvastatin together is generally safe and very common. However, there is a small chance that rosuvastatin could slightly increase the levels of metformin in your blood. Additionally, both medications can rarely cause muscle-related side effects, and rosuvastatin may slightly affect blood sugar control in some people.

Why this happens
Rosuvastatin may interfere with a specific transport protein (called OAT3) that helps the kidneys remove metformin from the body, potentially leading to slightly higher metformin levels. Furthermore, statins can occasionally increase blood glucose levels, which might slightly oppose the effect of metformin.
What you should do
