Why this happens

Paracetamol and sumatriptan work in different ways to relieve pain. Paracetamol works mainly in the central nervous system to reduce pain signals, while sumatriptan specifically targets blood vessels and nerves in the brain that are involved in migraines. They do not interfere with how the body absorbs, breaks down, or removes each other.

You can take paracetamol and sumatriptan at the same time if your doctor or pharmacist has advised it. In fact, many doctors recommend taking them together because they can be more effective at stopping a migraine than either medicine alone. Always follow the dosage instructions on the packaging or your prescription label. If your migraine does not improve or gets worse, contact your GP.
