This versatile marinated tofu recipe is a fantastic staple for anyone looking to master plant-based cooking. By pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture and using a savoury blend of soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and a hint of citrus, you create a protein that is deeply seasoned rather than bland. The high-temperature roasting method ensures the cubes develop a satisfyingly crisp exterior while remaining tender and succulent in the middle.
As a healthy vegan dish, it works beautifully as a component for meal prep or a quick weeknight dinner. Toss these golden nuggets into a vibrant vegetable stir-fry, scatter them over a fresh noodle salad, or serve them alongside steamed greens and brown rice. It is a simple, nutritious way to add texture and umami flavour to your favourite meat-free meals.

Ingredients for Marinated Tofu
450g extra-firm tofu
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon orange juice
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon canola oil
Cooking spray
How to make Marinated Tofu
Slice the tofu into 1/2-inch-thick slabs and lay the slices on top of paper towels. Use more paper towels (you'll probably need three) and firmly pat the tofu in order to remove as much of the water as possible. Cut the tofu into 3/4-inch cubes.
In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, orange juice, sesame oil, and canola oil. Add the tofu cubes and toss gently. Cover and let the tofu marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, and up to 24 hours.
Preheat the oven to 232°C. Spray a large shallow baking dish with cooking spray. Place the tofu in a single layer in the baking dish. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
