Winter planning 2026/27 – expectations and assurance

NHS England has released a letter outlining the national approach to winter 2026/27. Consultation on proposals for single and multi-neighbourhood provider contracts: share feedback

Des consultation has been launched to gather feedback on new contracts for single and multi-neighbourhood providers. The consultation aims to make commissioning neighbourhood health services more manageable. It will run for eight weeks, and responses will inform future proposals.

Reminder to sign up to the seasonal vaccination service for the autumn/winter campaign 2026/27

General practices and community pharmacies that have not yet registered for the upcoming COVID-19 and flu campaigns must do so by 31 July 2026 to ensure timely vaccine delivery. The enhanced service specification is available ici.

Diabetes drug being discontinued

Levemir, a diabetes medication, will be withdrawn, with availability expected to end by December 2026. Prescribers are advised not to initiate Levemir for new patients and to transition current patients to alternative insulins as part of a planned review, considering the supply situation of alternatives. New GMS, PMS and APMS standard contracts and variations published

NHS England has published new standard general medical services (GMS), personal medical services (PMS) and alternative provider medical services (APMS) contracts, which include updates following changes to contract regulations in June 2026.

Reminder: the pharmacy quality scheme 2026/27 aspiration payment declaration period closes soon

Community pharmacy contractors must submit their aspiration payment declarations before 11.59pm on 28 July 2026 through the manage your service (MYS) portal. More details on the PQS requirements can be found on the NHS website.
