This classic Southern fried chicken is the ultimate comfort food, delivering a satisfyingly crunchy coating and tender, juicy meat. This high-protein dish relies on a simple yet effective seasoning blend of paprika, thyme, and garlic to create a savoury crust that rivals any traditional soul food kitchen. By soaking the chicken in a mixture of evaporated milk and eggs, the coating adheres perfectly, ensuring a golden, non-greasy finish every time.
Ideal for a weekend family dinner or a picnic spread, this homemade fried chicken is best served alongside fresh coleslaw or buttery corn on the cob. Using a heavy-based pan or casserole dish helps maintain a steady temperature, allowing the larger cuts to cook through thoroughly without burning the exterior. It is a reliable, crowd-pleasing recipe that brings a taste of authentic Southern hospitality to your dining table.
