Chilli and Cheese Tart

This savoury chilli and cheese tart is a delicious vegetarian option that brings a subtle heat to the table. Combining the sharp flavour of mature cheddar with mild green chillies and a rich savoury custard, it offers a comforting yet punchy meal. The use of a pre-prepared pastry case makes it an incredibly convenient choice for a midweek dinner, while the vibrant red onion and golden cheese topping ensure it looks impressive enough for guests.

Serve this versatile tart warm or at room temperature alongside a crisp seasonal salad or some buttered new potatoes. It is a brilliant addition to a weekend brunch or a vegetarian buffet, providing a satisfying balance of creamy textures and gentle spice. For those who prefer a more intense kick, you can easily customise the heat by adding a few extra drops of pepper sauce to the filling.
