Puis-je prendre de l'Amoxicilline et du Cannabis ensemble ?

Guide d'interaction médicamenteuse

There is no known direct interaction between amoxicillin and cannabis. However, using cannabis while you have an infection may make you feel more dizzy or drowsy, and smoking it can irritate your lungs, potentially slowing down your recovery from respiratory infections.

Pourquoi cela se produit

Amoxicillin is primarily cleared by the kidneys, while the active compounds in cannabis (THC and CBD) are processed by the liver. Because they use different pathways, they do not interfere with how the body breaks each medicine down. There are no shared effects on the body's systems that would cause a dangerous reaction.

It is generally safe to take amoxicillin if you use cannabis, but it is best to avoid smoking if your infection affects your chest or throat. Be aware that the combined effects might make you feel more tired than usual. Always finish the full course of antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor.

Allergie à la pénicilline

Do not take amoxicilline if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction (such as a rash, swelling, or breathing difficulties) to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, as this can cause a life-threatening reaction.

Mental health conditions (Psychosis/Schizophrenia)

Avoid use if you have a personal or strong family history of psychosis or schizophrenia, as cannabis can trigger or worsen these conditions and lead to a relapse.

Conduite et utilisation de machines

It is illegal to drive if your driving is impaired by cannabis. Even if prescribed, you must not drive until you know how it affects you, as it significantly slows reaction times and impairs coordination.

Alcool

Drinking alcohol while using cannabis can significantly increase the sedative effects, leading to extreme drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination. It may also increase the absorption of THC, making the 'high' much more intense and unpredictable.

Jus de pamplemousse

Grapefruit can interfere with the enzymes that break down CBD and THC in your liver. This can cause the levels of cannabis in your bloodstream to rise, increasing the risk of side effects like drowsiness or dry mouth.

Repas riches en graisses

Taking oral cannabis products (like oils or capsules) with a high-fat meal can significantly increase how much of the drug is absorbed into your body. This can make the effects much stronger than intended.
