Why this happens

Both ashwagandha and magnesium can influence GABA receptors in the brain, which are responsible for relaxation. While they work in different ways, their combined effect can be additive, meaning they may enhance each other's calming properties.

What you should do

It is usually fine to take these together. However, if you find yourself feeling overly sleepy or lethargic, try taking them at different times of the day (for example, ashwagandha in the morning and magnesium before bed) or reduce the dose of one.
