These crispy seasoned oven chips are a fantastic dairy-free alternative to traditional deep-fried chips. By using whisked egg whites and a light dusting of breadcrumbs, you achieve a satisfying crunch without the need for excess oil. The blend of garlic, oregano, and a hint of chilli powder creates a savoury flavour profile that elevates the humble baking potato into a versatile side dish that the whole family will enjoy.
As a healthier, homemade option, these chips are perfect for those looking to reduce their fat intake while still enjoying a comforting treat. This recipe is naturally dairy-free and works brilliantly alongside a lean steak, grilled fish, or a plant-based burger. For the best results, ensure the potatoes are thoroughly dried before coating to guarantee a golden, crisp exterior every time.

Ingredients for Crispy Seasoned Oven Chips
2 large baking potatoes
4 teaspoons plain breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoons chilli powder
1/4 teaspoons sea salt
1/4 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
2 egg whites
Olive oil cooking spray
How to make Crispy Seasoned Oven Chips
Heat oven to 204°C. Slice potatoes in half lengthwise; cut each half into 1/4- to 1/2-inch-thick chips; pat dry with a paper towel. In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs with spices. In another bowl, whisk egg whites until foamy, about 1 minute; add chips to coat. Toss chips in spice mixture until evenly coated. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray; arrange chips on sheet with space in between; spritz chips with cooking spray. Bake, turning once, until chips are golden and crispy, about 20 minutes.
