Asian Glazed Salmon

This vibrant Asian glazed salmon is a fantastic choice for a nutritious mid-week meal. The combination of salty soy sauce, zesty lime and warming ginger creates a deeply savoury glaze that caramelises beautifully under the grill. By using brown sugar and hoisin, the sauce achieves a thick, syrupy consistency that coats the tender fish perfectly, offering a restaurant-quality finish at home.

As a heart-healthy dish, this recipe is rich in essential omega-3 fatty acids and high-quality protein. It is incredibly simple to prepare, making it ideal for busy evenings when you want something impressive yet wholesome. Serve these succulent fillets alongside steamed bok choy and fluffy jasmine rice, or atop a fresh crunchy salad for a lighter alternative that doesn't compromise on flavour.

Ingredients for Asian Glazed Salmon

  • 120ml brown sugar

  • 80ml soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 2 tablespoons peeled and sliced ginger

  • Dried red pepper flakes

  • 1/2 teaspoons chopped garlic

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

  • 1 1/2 to 900g salmon fillets

How to make Asian Glazed Salmon

Place the sugar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, dash of red pepper flakes, garlic, and lime juice in a medium nonreactive saucepan.

Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sauce forms a glaze. Set aside.

Preheat the grill.

Place the salmon fillets on a grill pan and baste with the sauce. Let sit for 15 minutes. Grill them until cooked through, about 8 minutes, basting again with the glaze.

Remove the salmon from the heat and baste once more with the glaze before serving.
