This mascarpone, ham, and asparagus tart is a sophisticated yet simple high-protein dish, perfect for a light lunch or a weekend brunch. By using a shop-bought pastry case, the recipe focuses on fresh, vibrant flavours and quality ingredients. The creamy mascarpone base is elevated with a hint of pungent horseradish and sharp mustard, providing a lovely contrast to the salty ham and crisp greens. It is an excellent way to celebrate the arrival of British asparagus season when the spears are at their most tender.
Packed with savoury notes and peppery rocket, this homemade tart feels wonderfully indulgent while remaining light enough for a summer spread. The combination of protein-rich ham and seasonal vegetables makes it a nutritious choice for those looking for a balanced meal. Serve it alongside a crisp green salad or some new potatoes for a satisfying garden lunch.
