Why this happens
Both substances can affect the central nervous system. Ashwagandha is thought to have GABAergic (calming) effects, while solifenacin is an anticholinergic medication. When used together, their combined effects may lead to increased sleepiness or blurred vision. Additionally, ashwagandha may slightly influence the liver enzymes (CYP3A4) that break down solifenacin, potentially leading to higher levels of the medicine in your body.
What you should do
Use caution if combining these two. If you notice excessive sleepiness, severe dry mouth, constipation, or blurred vision, stop taking the ashwagandha and consult your doctor or pharmacist. It is best to start with a low dose of ashwagandha to see how your body reacts while taking solifenacin.
