La KANK2 gene provides instructions for making a protein called SRC-interacting protein (SIP). SIP regulates proteins called steroid receptor coactivators (SRCs), which play critical roles in turning on (activating) certain genes. Within cells, SIP attaches (binds) to SRCs in the fluid surrounding the nucleus (the cytoplasm). By holding SRCs in the cytoplasm, SIP prevents these proteins from entering the nucleus to activate genes. In this way, SIP helps to control gene activity.

SIP is found in many organs and tissues, including the skin and kidneys. Little is known about its specific roles in various parts of the body.

Spondyloarthrite axiale
Spondyloarthrite axiale (also known as axSpA ou axial SpA) is a painful, chronic l'arthrite that mainly affects the joints of the spine, and also the joints connecting each side of the base of the spine with the pelvis (sacroiliac joints). It can also affect other joints in the body, as well as tendons and ligaments. It is divided into: 1).

Kyste de Baker
A Baker's cyst is a swelling that can develop behind the knee. It most commonly occurs if there is an underlying problem with the knee such as osteoarthritis. Symptoms can include pain, swelling and tightness behind the knee. Sometimes, a Baker's cyst can split open (rupture) and cause symptoms in the calf that can be similar to a deep vein.

Remplacement du genou
A knee replacement is an operation to replace damaged parts of the knee joint. The new part of the joint is called a prosthesis. The outcomes are usually very good and much better than they were when the surgery was first introduced. A knee replacement is a major operation and is usually only considered when all other options have been exhausted..
