phosphoinositide-3-kinase regulatory subunit 1

The PIK3R1 gene provides instructions for making a part (subunit) of an enzyme called phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K). The primary function of the subunit is to regulate the enzyme's activity. Several slightly different versions of this regulatory subunit are produced from the PIK3R1 gene; the most abundant of these is called p85 alpha (p85α).

Normal function

The PIK3R1 gene provides instructions for making a part (subunit) of an enzyme called phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K). The primary function of the subunit is to regulate the enzyme's activity. Several slightly different versions of this regulatory subunit are produced from the PIK3R1 gene; the most abundant of these is called p85 alpha (p85α).

PI3K is a kinase, which means that it adds a cluster of oxygen and phosphorus atoms (a phosphate group) to other proteins through a process called phosphorylation. PI3K phosphorylates certain signaling molecules, which triggers a series of additional reactions that transmit chemical signals within cells. PI3K signaling is important for many cell activities, including cell growth and division (proliferation), movement (migration) of cells, production of new proteins, transport of materials within cells, and cell survival.

Studies suggest that PI3K signaling may be involved in how cells regulate several hormones. One of these hormones is insulin, which helps control levels of blood glucose, also called blood sugar. PI3K signaling may also play a role in the maturation of fat cells (adipocytes).

Dyshidrose

Dyshidrose est un type de eczéma where there are itchy blisters on the hands and feet, followed by inflamed and dry skin. The condition is usually long-term, with symptoms that come and go at various times. The first step in managing pompholyx is to identify and avoid things that make it worse. Treatment includes creams and ointments to reduce.

dystrophie musculaire

dystrophie musculaire est un inherited (genetic) disorder causing muscle weakness. There are different types of muscular dystrophy, which vary as to how severe they are, ranging from very mild to severe. The different types also vary as to what age they begin. If muscular dystrophy is suspected, tests can help to make an accurate diagnosis. Other.

Maladies de stockage du glycogène

Maladies de stockage du glycogène are a group of inherited diseases. They result from a problem with one of the proteins (known as enzymes) involved in the conversion of glucose to glycogen, or the breakdown of glycogen back into glucose. They mostly tend to affect your liver and muscles. Most are diagnosed in childhood. Symptoms include weakness,.

Tests de fonction hépatique are a set of analyses de sang commonly done to check on the health of your liver. Changes in liver function tests give a clue as to whether your liver is under strain, inflamed, infected or diseased, and how badly. The pattern of the liver function tests can give a clue to the cause and can allow early detection of unsuspected.
