If you have epilepsy or have ever had a fit (seizure) before.
If you are taking warfarin as you may need additional blood tests.
Si vous prenez d'autres médicaments. Cela inclut tous les médicaments que vous prenez et qui sont disponibles à l'achat sans ordonnance, ainsi que les médicaments à base de plantes et les médecines complémentaires.

How to take levocarnitine
Retour au sommaireBefore you start this treatment, read the manufacturer's printed information leaflet from inside your pack. It will give you more information about levocarnitine and will provide you with a full list of side-effects which you may experience from taking it.
Take levocarnitine exactly as your doctor tells you to. It is usual to take 2-4 doses each day. Your doctor or pharmacist will tell you what dose is right for you, and this will also be printed on the label of the pack to remind you. The amount may vary from time to time depending on how you respond to the treatment.
There are a number of different forms of levocarnitine available - you may be supplied with tablets, capsules or oral liquid medicine. Check the directions on the label to see how you should take your supply. Some tablets should be swallowed whole with a drink of water; other tablets should be chewed before they are swallowed.
Try to get into the habit of taking your doses at the same times of day each day. This will help you to remember to take your doses regularly.
If you do forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Try to take the correct number of doses each day, but do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Questions fréquemment posées
What is levocarnitine and why might I need to take it?
Levocarnitine is a natural substance in your body, a type of protein, that helps convert fat into energy. You might need to take levocarnitine supplements if your body isn't producing enough of it, or if your natural levels are reduced due to a specific medical treatment.
Are there different forms of levocarnitine, and how do I know which one to take?
Yes, levocarnitine is available in several forms, including tablets, capsules, and oral liquid. Your doctor or pharmacist will prescribe the specific form that is right for you. Always check the directions on your medicine's label, as some tablets might need to be swallowed whole, while others are chewable.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. It's important to try and take the correct number of doses each day. However, you should not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten one.

Before starting levocarnitine, your doctor or pharmacist needs to know if you have kidney problems, high blood sugar (diabetes mellitus), or epilepsy. If you experience feeling sick or tummy pain, try sticking to simple meals. For diarrhoea, drink plenty of water to replace lost fluids. If body odour becomes troublesome, speak with your doctor.
